About Us
Department of Biological Sciences
The Department of Biological Sciences is headed by Dr Asio Santa Maria. It was formed in 2003, merging from previous Department of Biology at Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK) and the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo.
Since the formation of Kyambogo University in 2003, the Biological Sciences Department has been spearheading in the training of highly practical and skilled life scientists both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Graduates from this Department have used learned skills in biotech, education and research to support sustainable development nationally and internationally.

Academic Programmes
The Department runs a total of Six (9) academic programmes: Three postgraduate programmes, two undergraduate programmes and one Diploma programme. The Department also services three undergraduate programmes from the School of Education
Message from the Head of Department
I am pleased to introduce to you the Department of Biological Sciences, Kyambogo University. We are a team of scientists and educators dedicated to support discovery of new knowledge through research and training of individuals in Biological Sciences. Biological science is a wide field, that is why we have numerous experienced staff in different areas which include; ecology, biotechnology, conservation biology, public health/ environmental health, ethno botany, microbiology, hydrobiology, entomology, parasitology, fisheries and environment science.
